Program Description

Our Physical Education program offers exposure to diverse fitness, sports, recreational and human performance activities.

FRESHMEN CORE PROGRAM - a set of program prescribed for all freshmen students, including instruction in a wide variety of activities.

ELECTIVE PROGRAM - Sophomore, Junior, and Senior students choose a variety of activities, changing activities each 3 to 6 weeks

ADVANCED PROGRAM - we offer advanced programs in Weight Training, Aerobics and Dance. These are full year courses open to Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors by approval of instructor.

Graduation Requirement

It is a California State Requirement that you must pass 2 years (4 semesters), of Physical Education in order to earn a high school diploma.

Swim Requirement

It is a school district requirement that you pass a basic swim test OR be enrolled in a beginning swim class each semester you are enrolled in P.E. While it is not necessary to pass the swim test in order to graduate, it is necessary to at least participate at a passing level in a beginning swim class until you have passed the test or until you are no longer enrolled in P.E.

Required Uniform:

T- shirt : Gray or Red (put your name on the chest)

Shorts : black (put your name on the left leg)

Athletic Shoes : any color

Optional Uniform

Fleece Sweats : red, gray, black or white (marked with your name)

* Points will be deducted when any other clothes are worn to P.E.

Jackets or coats may not be worn over the uniform

School athletic team uniforms may not be worn in P.E.

The clothes you wear yo school may not be worn in P.E.

Locker Room

When you enroll in P.E., you will be assigned a locker. No other student has the combination to this locker. You are responsible to memorize the combination. DO NOT GIVE THIS COMBINATION TO ANY OTHER PERSON. (Sometimes people who we trust today, are not trustworthy tomorrow)

This locker is for your use when you are in P.E. or athletics. Do not use it to store other personal items or school materials. Neither teachers, M.P., nor the district are responsible for items left in your locker.

Do not bring food into the locker room or leave it in your locker. The smell of food attracts ants, cockroaches, and other pests.

Earning Your Points:

Attending class on time each day

Dressing out in the correct uniform each day

Participating in daily class activities to the best of your ability

Making sure that all absences are cleared

Tardiness

In order to be counted "on time to class", you must be in your roll call number when the tardy bell rings. The school tardy policy is enforced in Physical Education. Participation points are lost each time you are tardy without a written excuse from a staff member.

Medical Excuses

If you are unable to participate fully in P.E. due to medical reasons, you are required to provide:

A note from your parent or guardian, including daytime phone number (You must dress out)

A note from a physician which indicates the extent of your limitations. (You must dress out unless specified by the doctor)

If you are unable to do any physical activity, you may be given a written or other alternation assignment. Failure to complete your assignment will be counted as non-participation Excessive tardiness results in phone calls home and referral to the office.
