Vietnamese for Vietnamese-Speaker Vietnamese 1 for Vietnamese speakers (Year course)This is a two semesters, college preparatory course for native Vietnamese speakers. It provides deep involvement in the development of the following skills in Vietnamese: reading, writing, speaking/listening, grammar, and critical thinking. The main goal of this course is proficiency in all of the above skills areas. Prerequisite: Native speaker or near native fluency as determined by the Language Assessment Scales Test and/or teacher approval Vietnamese 2 for Vietnamese speakers (Year course)This is a two semesters, college preparatory course for native Vietnamese speakers. It is the second level of the Vietnamese for Vietnamese speakers program. It provides and intensive involvement in the development of the following skills in Vietnamese: reading, writing, speaking/listening, grammar, and critical thinking. The main goal of this course is proficiency in all of the above skills areas. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Vietnamese 1 for Vietnamese Speakers and/or teacher approval Vietnamese 3 for Vietnamese speakers (Year course)This is an advanced two semesters, college preparatory course for native Vietnamese speakers. The main goal of this course is the continuing proficiency development of the following skill areas: reading, writing, speaking/listening, grammar, and critical thinking. This is achieved by oral presentations such as demonstration speeches, student lectures, and class debates on contemporary sociological and political matters of the day. The study and analysis of Vietnamese literature and literature is also emphasized. Students at this level write compositions of various types but primarily focus writing the five paragraph expository essay, including the research paper. This course satisfied 1 unit of the "F" requirement at the UC and 1 unit of the "G" requirement at CSU.
