Required English Courses The following courses fufill the English requirements for graduation from high school. Placement in an English class will be based on teacher recommendation and test scores. English Honors Courses (CSU)(UC) These Honors Courses prepares students for the advanced placement test in Literature. These courses offers all the components of English with a more extensive and intensive study of major literary works and forms. Also the course includes advanced writing and an intensive study of Western Literature and American works.
English 1 A (CSU)(UC) This course includes all the component of English 1 with more extensive and intensive study of major literary work and forms. It prepares students for English 3 Honors and English 4 Humanities (acceptable for college preparatory credit).English 2 A (10)(CSU)(UC) This course includes all the components of English 2 with more extensive study of Western Literature. It prepares students for English 3 Honors and English 4 Honors- Humanities (acceptable for college preparatory credit).English 3 Honors (11)(CSU)(UC) This English honors course includes advanced writing significant philosophic and literary movements in the U.S., ad an intensive study of a variety of American works (acceptable for college preparatory and honors credit).English 4 Humanities (12)(CSU)(UC) This advanced placement course includes advanced composition, an in-depth study of major works of English and Western literature, and significant developments in Western philosophy and the arts (acceptable for college preparatory and honors credit). |
