Yearbook and Graphics courses CSU: California State College "Art" Requirement: entering freshmen must pass a year of visual or Perfoming Art (art, music, or drama) in high school in addition to a foreign language. UC: California University "F"/Fine Arts Requirement: Will be effective beginning with the class of the year 2003. Multimedia/ Graphic Design (Year course open to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders)The student will be introduced to modern methods and technologies used in multi-media. Student will learn the basics of typography, layout, illustration, photo manipulation, web and presentation applications. Students will receive hands-on instruction and lessons in computer techniques and the use of current computer based graphics applications such as Adobe Photoshop, PageMaker, and Illustrator. The emphasis of the course will be on student problem solving skills, creativity, and professionalism. Yearbook 1 and 2 (Year course open to 11th, and 12th graders) The Yearbook staff is responsible for the production of the Mt. Pleasant Cardinal. It is difficult and time consuming job; the extra time required of the yearbook student is really community service-ultimately serving the school community throughout the school year by representing everyone on campus in the school's memory book. When the book is finished in the spring, seniors train potential students and work on designing the layouts for the following year's class.Prerequisites: Students need to have successfully completed (with a grade of "B" or better), more than one of the following: Honor English/English 2, Journalism 1 or on the editorial board of The Cardinal Quill, Mt. Pleasant's literary magazine. Photo 1 or 2 Graphics 1 Keyboarding A/B Interviewing with current staff members and instructors/Instructor's written consent
