Digital Animation 
The art of animation has changed dramatically over the past ten years with the advent of personal computing and the ever changing digital world that we are a part. sgi, Inc, is a leader in the world of super fast
graphics workstations. Its' affiliate software
company, Alias Wavefront, has carved out a
niche on the leading edge of digital 3-D and
animation software. Mt. Pleasant is proud to
be a business/education partner with sgi,Inc.
The animation studio at Mt.Pleasant High School currently has 10 sgi workstations running the 3D rendering and animation software package "Maya" from Alias,Inc.. Students in their junior year start learning the basics of digital rendering and animation using "Maya". Other students in the program are more than welcome to use the sgi 02 workstations to get a head start in their digital skills outside their regular class time.
We also have the capability of digitally inking, painting and creating "finished" 2D animation using RetasPro, a Japanese animation program mounted on our Macintosh computers. |
